Your Hosts: Peter and Julie Griffiths

We have lived in BC's Central Interior for almost 30 years and enjoy its seasons, landscape and wildlife. We are lovers of the outdoors and find the 100km of trails at our back door wonderful in summer, winter, spring and fall.

We have traveled extensively including Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Costa Rica and Hawaii and have enjoyed the Bed and Breakfast experiences worldwide. We have also done two exciting Northern Raft trips - one on the Tatshenshini River and one on the Burnside River which flows into the Arctic Ocean.

We love people and offer the same level of service, food and accommodation we have grown to appreciate in our travels.

Meet the rest of our family!

Our B&B staff includes two wonderful Black and White English Springer Spaniels. Oliver was born in 2000. Oliver does Agility, Rally O, and is a Pet Visitation Dog in the Hospital visiting patients in Cancer Care, Psychiatry, and Long Term Care. He was joined in 2003 by his Niece Shadow Perle.

Shadow will always be a puppy at heart and looks forward to every waking moment with enthusiasm. Hospital visitations may not be in her future but she is very quick and will keep us one our toes for years!

Furry is our 6 year old Orange Tabby Female ( yes very rare for a female). She of course rules the roost and loves to help Julie garden and sew.

Furry Quilt

"This quilt was named for a special cat that hosts a very nice Bed and Breakfast in Prince George BC."

It was designed by Dawn Smith of Quilted Accents in Quesnel and entered in a Quilt Show. It now proudly hangs in our B&B stairwell.

The Legend of JGO

This family story dates back many years and tries to explain Julie's inability to produce the same recipe exactly the same, or the same sewing project exactly like the first one. JGO stands for Julie Griffiths' Originals... every product is "almost" like the last one but not quite. It is the "not quite" that make our breakfast particularly enticing! Below are a few of our favourite recipes ... but expect them with a slight twist when you dine with us!!!

We of course cater to special dietary requirements and I promise to follow the rules!

Mmmmm Oven Baked French Toast!

  • Mix eggs (the number of people plus 1), some milk, orange juice and cinnamon in a mixing bowl
  • Put in a shallow baking pan and add slices of 1" thick French Bread
  • Coat both sides well, cover with Saran and refrigerate overnight
  • Heat oven to 385F. I use my convection oven!
  • Place soaked bread slices on a well greased (preheated) baking sheet in the oven
  • Bake 8 minutes on one side and flip for the remaining 8 minutes
  • Sprinkle with icing sugar and serve!
  • These are best served with bacon and Julie's Cranberry Maple Syrup!

Julie's Egg Nests - the secret is out!

  • Preheat Oven to 350 degrees F
  • Spray large muffin tin with "Pam"
  • Line each hole  with a slice of thinly sliced Black Forest Ham
  • Add an egg, some cream, and some grated Cheddar Cheese
  • Top with a leaf of fresh basil!
  • Bake 19 minutes and carefully remove and place on a Toasted and buttered English Muffin.
  • I usually served two nests per guest
  • "Thanks to the Best of Bridge for their inspiration".
